Lawkim is a specialist motor manufacturer, in business since 1961 under its original management. They built a Thane factory in 1965 that pioneered manufacturing of motors for hermetically sealed compressors in India under a Technical Agreement with Emerson Electric Company, USA, but after going bankrupt in 1976 were acquired by the Godrej family in early 1977. Growing and expanding, the new management team went on to build a new state-of-the-art factory in 1991 at a greenfield site near Village Shindewadi in Satara District. Lawkim joined Godrej in October 2008, continuing to offer its customers its traditional Godrej values of quality, trust and commitment.
